Welcome to Day 3 of the 10K Sprint. Today we expanded Alavita's social feed from training-only to the other half of the fitness equation: nutrition.
The Purpose
Workouts are only half the battle; what you eat determines your results. Gym communities thrive on sharing recipes, high-protein meal prep ideas, and daily eating diaries.
We wanted to let users post their logged meals directly to the feed so their friends can see exactly what they're eating, view the macro breakdowns, and—most importantly—save those meals to their own diary with a single tap.
What We Shipped
- Dynamic Meal Sharing: Added a meal picker that pulls from your logged food items over the past 7 days, automatically grouping them by meal type (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack).
- Interactive Meal Cards: Shared meals display on the feed with a detailed breakdown: total calories, protein, carbs, fats, and the exact list of ingredients with serving sizes.
- Template Saving: Tap the save icon on any meal post on the feed, and the entire meal is immediately added to your custom templates. You can then log it into your own nutrition log instantly.
- Photo & Caption Support: Users can attach photos of their food, write a description, and select public or friends-only visibility.
The Goal
By letting users copy each other's macro-friendly meals, we solve a major pain point: deciding what to eat. Nutrition tracking becomes collaborative rather than a chore, driving higher daily active usage of the app.
Day 3 is officially shipped. See you tomorrow!
